Queensland is the most species rich state in Australia. Many of these animals and plants are found nowhere else on Earth and rely on Queensland’s world class forests and bushlands to survive.
Australia is globally recognised as a deforestation hotspot and sadly, Queensland is leading the destructive charge. Every day Queensland’s special forests and bushlands are being bulldozed for beef pastures.
In 2017, the Queensland Labor government committed to ending broadscale deforestation but we’re still seeing disastrous deforestation going unchecked at an alarming rate.
Today, the world is moving away from practices that rely on the destruction of Queensland’s forests and bushland. Companies, banks, and international markets are more and more demanding deforestation-free beef and so are consumers. For Queensland to be a leader in deforestation-free beef the Queensland government must support the beef industry to step up to the challenge through stronger laws and incentives that work for people and nature.
Send an email to Queensland parliamentarians asking them to end the deforestation of Queensland’s forests and bushlands before it’s too late—protecting nature, people and the climate.
