Norwegian oil and gas exploration company TGS is seeking approval to undertake dangerous seismic blasting in a whale superhighway—and we’ve got until 11 August to blow it out of the water. 

TGS plans to undertake seismic blasting over an acquisition area of 45,000km2 off the coasts of Victoria and Lutruwita / Tasmania, on Gunditjmara and Eastern Maar sea Country.

If we don’t stop this blasting before it starts, it could lead to the discovery of gas deposits and the creation of new gas projects—at a time when we need to drastically scale back fossil fuels to stay within safe limits of global heating.

The Albanese government was elected with a promise to “restore community trust in environmental decision-making”. That means they must listen when the community says no.
