NOW is the time to stand up for the lutruwita / Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, Aboriginal land and to reject this new push for parks privatisation.

Under the EPBC Act, and as a signatory to the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, Australia’s Commonwealth government is responsible for ensuring the protection of World Heritage values.

lutruwita / Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area (TWWHA) is the world’s highest-rated World Heritage wilderness, meeting an asstounding 7 out of 10 World Heritage criteria, making it globally unique. Despite its superlative Aboriginal cultural and natural values, this precious region is threatened by multiple bids to privatise parts of the national parks that constitute the TWWHA.

UNESCO rightly says “World Heritage sites belong to all the peoples of the world, irrespective of the territory on which they are located.”

Please send your submissions by the deadline of 5pm on Wednesday 19 October 2022. All submissions will be provided to Wild Drake (as this government process requires).
