We've pushed Bunnings to change before. Public pressure got them to stop sourcing timber from Victoria's state-owned logging agency after it was found logging illegally. Now we're asking them to do the same for PEFC.

Call your local Bunnings store and ask them to drop PEFC to protect forests.

Here are two tips to making a successful call:

  1. Be polite. The person you’re speaking to isn’t a decision maker, they might also be learning this for the first time!
  2. We’re not trying to start a debate. Thank them for their time and ask for your concern as a customer to be passed on.

How it works:

  1. Fill in your state (VIC, TAS, SA, NSW, QLD, WA, NT, ACT) and we’ll give you a Bunnings store number and all the information you need to make the call. Picking up the phone isn't the easiest ask, so we've put together some talking points to make it simple.
  2. You make the call, ask for a store manager and read through the ask (we’ve got a script to make it easy!). If the manager isn’t available politely ask if they can pass along a message.
  3. Let us know how you went.

  • I'm a Bunnings customer, and I understand Bunnings has a Responsible Timber Sourcing Policy, but I'm still concerned that it accepts PEFC certification. I'd really like to see Bunnings stop stocking products sourced from native forests and move towards stronger standards such as FSC.
  • PEFC has a long track record of certifying logging in old growth and other high conservation value native forests, including forests that provide habitat for threatened species.
  • OPTIONAL: I recently wrote to Managing Director Michael Schneider about my concerns regarding Bunnings' timber sourcing.
