Tragically, sacred art with over 30,000 years of ancestral history was recently desecrated in Koonalda Cave, Nullarbor.

The Yerkala Mirning are calling for urgent World Heritage listing.

Together, we can protect this natural and cultural wonder before it's too late.

Ask Minister for the Environment and Water Tanya Plibersek to support World Heritage protection for the Nullarbor and Great Australian Bight.

Dear Minister for the Environment and Water Tanya Plibersek,

The Nullarbor and Great Australian Bight is a place of majesty, a unique connection between sky, sea and land. It’s home to a staggering amount of biodiversity, with more than 85% of species found nowhere else on Earth.

Covered in protected areas, yet still vulnerable, the Fight for the Bight movement to protect this astonishing place successfully prevented proposals for deep sea oil drilling. The Australian community stood together with the Yerkala Mirning Custodians in the largest grassroots movement of its type in recent Australian history. The fossil fuel companies concerned have now all withdrawn.

Polling showed 84% of people supported World Heritage protection, which became a 2022 election promise of the South Australian government.

Please Minister, it's time to support World Heritage protection for the iconic Nullarbor and Great Australian Bight.

The Custodians continue the work of over 65,000 years in protecting this legacy for humanity.

Tragically, sacred art with over 30,000 years of ancestral history was recently desecrated in Koonalda Cave, Nullarbor.

The Yerkala Mirning are calling for urgent World Heritage listing.

Please act quickly to protect this natural and cultural wonder before it's too late.
